Torstein
Even though he is early in his career, Torstein has already gained valuable experience at OKEA. Learn more about his journey in the company as a trainee.
— Following my passion for football, I went for a bachelor’s degree in social and sports sciences at NTNU. An interesting elective year in political science broadened my academic interests and eventually led me to pursue a master’s degree in organisation, digitalisation, administration, and work. Here, I chose to specialise in management and technology.
At this stage, he wasn’t entirely sure which career path to take. That’s when OKEA opened the door for him.
– In the summer of 2023, I joined OKEA as a summer intern in QHSSE, focusing on work environment. I continued working part-time alongside my studies and later collaborated with OKEA on my master’s thesis, where I dealt with insider risk in the petroleum sector.
His part-time job at OKEA made it clear that this was where he wanted to continue his career.
– When I began my job search, my goal was to work at OKEA. I was eventually offered the position as a trainee in the Corporate Services business unit. I already knew that this was a place where I would thrive, which made me confident in my choice.
The OKEA trainee program spans two years. During this time, trainees rotate through different departments, gaining hands-on experience and a solid understanding of the company. With close mentorship, the trainees will adapt to various roles, ensuring a strong start to their careers.
As for Torstein, he has already been working for some time in the People & Organisation department (P&O) in Trondheim and is enjoying his time so far.
– I started in P&O and will eventually rotate to another functional area. So far, it’s been great. The combination of skilled and supportive colleagues, a good working environment, and OKEA’s values which I strongly relate to, makes this an exciting place .
